Mafia Awards by NeilOnnsu.

Awards Edit

Best Newbie Edit

This newcomer to the Mafia community managed to make an impressive debut, performing better than one would expect on his or her first couple of games. When nominating, please include the first few games in which the Newbie participated with a short description of each game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links. (Rule for future Awards: If you were a valid candidate for this award in the previous AoPS Mafia Awards, you cannot be nominated this award this year.)

Winner for 2016: ???

Best SE Edit

This SE does all that a good SE should, serving as a guiding light to ensure that Newbie games run smoothly even when the IC is absent, in addition to showing strong playing ability. When nominating, please include the first few games in which the Newbie participated with a short description of each game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner for 2016: ???

Best IC Edit

This IC is an excellent role model and mentor for Newbie players. This veteran player helps Newbies regardless of faction in a way that is both respectful and unpatronizing, clearing up confusions any newcomers may have and setting a good example by playing well and remaining active,http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Being_a_good_IC. Even when not participating in a Newbie game, this IC remains a valued asset to the AoPS Mafia community. When nominating, please include at least one Newbie game in which the IC participated with a short description of each game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links. Note that, when nominating an IC who became one only this year, it is fine to include a Newbie game in which that player was not yet an IC if he or she still helped the players somehow.

Winner for 2016: ???

Most Active Edit

This player may be the sole reason that a game does not die from inactivity. He or she is a nearly ubiquitous yet unintrusive presence within the Mafia community and is always present when needed, rarely necessitating a prod -- and certainly not a replacement. When nominating, please include an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner for 2016: ???

Best Performance by a Mod or Mod Team Edit

This mod or mod team (mod and co-mod(s)) modded a successful, smoothly-run game that was entertaining for players and spectators alike. He/she/they may have implemented a creative setup with intriguing mechanics, or came up with well-composed flavortext, or resolved a potentially game-breaking situation with tact and grace, or perhaps all of the above; whatever the case, he/she/they certainly neither interfered unnessarily with players' affairs nor allowed the game to become abandoned. Note that this award is not for the best mod or mod team, in general, but for the performance of a mod or mod team for a specific game (this applies to all following "Best Performance" awards as well). When nominating, please include a link to that specific game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner(s) for 2016: ???

Most Improved Edit

This player may have started off on weak footing, but has shown remarkable improvement over the course of the year. Somehow, after much effort and practice, this player managed to sharpen his or her abilities to great avail. When nominating, please include both a link to an early game of this player from either this year or the previous year and a link to a game from later that clearly illustrates the improvement, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner for 2016: ???

Best Performance by a Pro-Town Player Edit

This player displayed spectacular scumhunting skills in a game, masterfully applying clever techniques to narrow down the scum suspect list. Even if Town didn't win the game, it was through no fault of this player, who indisputably gave it his or her best effort with effective attack and analysis techniques, preferably without tripping up and getting heavily suspected him/herself. When nominating, please include a link to the specific game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner for 2016: ???

Best Performance by a Pro-Town Team Edit

It is often quite difficult to work as a team; it is even harder when one does not actually know the identities of one's team members for certain. Despite this challenge, however, this uninformed majority managed remarkably well, with several particularly strong arguments, deductions, and successful lynches resulting in a win. When nominating, please include a link to the specific game, along with an explanation of why the nominees deserve the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winners for 2016: ???

Best Performance by a Neutral/Anti-Town Player Edit

This player displayed significantly strong scum abilities in a game by cleverly deceiving Town and avoiding suspicion, committing strategic kills and spurring mislynch bandwagons along the way. Even if his faction didn't win the game, it was through no fault of this player, who indisputably gave it his or her best effort with near flawless lies, illusions, and fabrications, preferably while misdirecting lynches from scumbuddies as well. Or perhaps this player acted entirely alone, with some challenging or unusual win condition, in which case there is all the more reason to praise this player's success. When nominating, please include a link to the specific game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner for 2016: ???

Best Performance by a Neutral/Anti-Town Team Edit

This anti-town faction did not have just one player who deserves recognition for a strong scum performance -- it had several. All members contributed to this scum group's collective win in one way or another in an excellent display of teamwork. When nominating, please include a link to the specific game, along with an explanation of why the nominees deserve the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winners for 2016: ???

Most Valuable Player Edit

This is the all-around best player of the year. This player is active, performs strongly regardless of role or faction, and has made major contributions to help his or her side win on numerous occasions. When nominating, please include at least two games in which the nominee displayed an exemplary performance with a short description of each game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner for 2016: ???

Best Game Edit

This was the most interesting and entertaining game of the entire year, with most, if not all, of the following elements: a competent mod, a varied ensemble of players, a strong Town, a devious scum team, and an all-around enjoyable experience for all. When nominating, please include a link to the game, along with an explanation of why the nominee deserves the award, preferably citing specific posts with links.

Winner for 2016: ???

Funniest Moment Edit

One of the reasons I enjoy Mafia so much is how often humorous situations crop up within a game. When nominating, please describe the moment, give it a fitting caption, and link to the post in which the moment occurred.

Winner for 2016: ???

Winner for 2016: ???

The Mafia Awards Thread will be unavailable until December 2016. Please do not nominate yourself, but you may nominate a team or game you were part of at the risk of being seen as conceited, or multiple people/games/events in each category.

Unless you are nominating a player for the Most Improved award (in which case refer there for specific instructions), then when including games in your nomination, please only refer to games that were COMPLETED between December 1st, 2015 and December 1st, 2016 -- in other words, Games 114 through ??? are fair game.

After some time for nominations and once all of the awards are set, we can begin voting (I'll have to work out how to do that, first -- suggestions would be appreciated).
